Dan Roman

Daniel Roman graduated from the Ohio State University with a Master of Science in Geodetic Science and Surveying in 1993 and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences (geophysics) in 1999. He then joined the National Geodetic Survey as a Research Geodesist leading geoid modeling efforts for 10 years. He served as Chief of Spatial Reference System Division for three years and as Chief Geodesist for seven years. He is now the Senior Leader for Geodesy involved in international collaboration and guiding U.S government agencies in implementing the new National Spatial Reference System for 2022.

Gary Thompson

Mr. Gary W. Thompson is the Deputy Hazard Mitigation Chief and Chief of the North Carolina (NC) Geodetic Survey at NC Emergency Management. He has served as president of both the NC Society of Surveyors (NCSS) and the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS). He is an emeritus member of the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCBEES), a commission member of the ABET Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission, Chair of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee in 2023, and serves on the National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Advisory Board, and Hydrographic Services Review Panel.

Juliana P. Blackwell

Juliana P. Blackwell is the Director of NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS). She is responsible for the financial, administrative and programmatic performance of NGS, the lead federal agency for positioning activities in the Nation. She oversees the management and delivery of the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS), the nation's consistent coordinate system for latitude, longitude, height, gravity measurements and shoreline information throughout the United States. Ms. Blackwell serves as Chair of the Federal Geodetic Control Subcommittee of the Federal Geographic Data Committee, exercising government-wide leadership in the development and improvement of geodetic surveying specifications, methods, instrumentation, and data transfers.
